Washington DC and the Eastern Shore

My first flight (read more about that here) dropped us in Washington DC. From there, we had to make our way down the Eastern Shore of Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia to visit my Grandpa. It was a blast!

We made our way down to Ocean City, MD with a stop in Annapolis for a quick stroll around downtown and a stop for lunch at Burnish Brewing in Salisbury, MD (read about our Burnish Visit!). Ocean City was so much fun, even though dogs are not allowed on the boardwalk or beach during the summer months. There are many dog friendly restaurants and businesses around town. We loved Mackey’s which is on the waterfront and adjacent to a small beach where your pup can get their toes wet or chew on some seaweed. As far as boardwalk and beach restrictions go, my humans were able to carry me along the boardwalk in their tote without much issue. While it may not be allowed (and your mileage may vary), none of the police we walked by said anything. And while the beach isn’t dog friendly, nearby Assateague Island (the MD side) is dog friendly.

After Ocean City, we drove down to the Cape Charles area to visit Grandpa. We went on the boat, caught oysters, ate crabs, went to the beach, and visited Cape Charles Brewing. It was so much fun!

After a few days visiting Grandpa, we hit the road again. We spent some time in Virginia Beach, Norfolk, and Richmond before heading back to Washington DC for the evening. We visited a couple of breweries (Oozlefinch – one of my mom’s favorites!, and The Veil,), walked on the National Mall I pooped in front of the Capitol and Dad made a Reel), and got street food takeout. Yotel in Washington is very pet friendly and conveniently located.
