Need a reason to visit Woonsocket, RI? Well now you have one. Lops Brewing is a great microbrewery on the edge of downtown Woonsocket. They don’t have the largest selection of draft offerings in the world, but they have some really unique variety that stands out from the seemingly endless string train of IPAs (though they do have those too) dominating tap lists. We loved the Tiramisu Imperial Stout and the Peach Basil Wheat Ale. They even had a habanero IPA. Check out the tap list for current offerings.
Since this isn’t just a beer blog, let’s get to the dogs. Dogs are allowed outside on the patio behind the building. It’s a nice, fairly sizeable patio with some overhead covering for those bright sunny days. You can access it easily without walking through the indoor area by walking around to the left of the building. There were two other very well behaved pups in the patio area when we were there and plenty of room for me to sprawl (see above).
There is no bar outside, so solo parents will have to go inside to order. However, it looks like it would be pretty easy to tie your pup up to a post or table to pop in an order quickly. The bar is just inside the rear door and there are windows looking directly out at the patio, so you could keep a constant eye on your pup. The patio is also enclosed on 3 sides by walls and the entrance is tucked away on a quiet alley way, so it’s a decent spot to take your pup if you’re alone. Parking is easily available on the street or in the lot adjacent to the building (read the website’s instructions – there are several “do not park” spaces to look out for).
